Twenty Years of Marketing.
Eight Teams.
Numbers I Can Walk You Through Line by Line.
I'm Scott Murphy — a marketing and brand strategist in Fort Lauderdale who builds campaigns, brands, and events that move measurable numbers. I've run digital programs against a $56M operating budget, launched a product line that sold $2.5M in a year, and built an SMS channel from zero to $126K in ninety days. I'm looking for an in-house marketing role where strategy and execution happen in the same room.
PROOF BAND
Twenty Years of Results, every one attributable.

What I Bring to
Your Marketing Team
Six areas where I’ve owned the outcome, not just the deliverable. Each one links to the work behind it.
Brand Strategy & Positioning
Messaging frameworks, visual identity, and positioning that survives contact with a sales team. I've run brand launches for B2B and B2C organizations across six industries and rebuilt brand systems that had drifted across channels.
SEO & Content Strategy
Keyword research, content architecture, editorial calendars, and the technical hygiene that makes them work. I plan content against search intent and revenue, not publishing volume.
Email & Lifecycle Marketing
Segmentation, automation, deliverability, and lifecycle programs at real scale. I've owned list health, not just campaign sends.
Event & Experiential Marketing
National trade shows and conference programs end to end — budget, vendors, logistics, booth strategy, lead capture, and follow-up.
Marketing Leadership & Operations
SOPs, playbooks, onboarding, vendor management, and the cross-functional habits that let a small team ship like a large one.
Web & Conversion
Site redesigns, landing pages, and conversion flow work. I've briefed developers, managed builds in WordPress, Shopify, and Magento, and shipped redesigns that improved conversion, not just aesthetics.
A Journalist Who
Learned to Sell.
I studied magazine journalism at the University of Florida and was managing editor & contributing writer of the student run publication Orange & Blue Magazine — where writing, editing, photography, and design, were vital to be completed on deadline. Then I spent twenty years applying that training to marketing.
It shows up in specific ways. I can write the campaign instead of briefing someone else to write it. I can tell whether a piece of content is actually interesting or just on-message. And I ask the question every journalist asks first and too few marketers ask at all: why would anyone care about this?
I've worked in-house at pharmaceutical, e-commerce, promotional products, and consumer goods companies, and I've consulted independently. The in-house work is where I do my best work — closer to the product, closer to the sales team, and accountable for the number rather than the deliverable.
My First 90 Days
in Any New Role.
Three phases. Every role. The goal isn’t to move fast — its to understand before I build, build before I scale, and scale with clear accountability.
Phase 1 - Days 1-30: Listen & Audit
Before I build a strategy, I understand the business from the inside
Talk to every team that touches the customer: sales, product, support, ops. Audit existing channels, campaigns, and reporting. Find out which numbers the leadership team actually watches — and which ones nobody trusts.
What You Get At Day 30
A written audit of the current state, three prioritized quick wins already in motion, and a straight answer about what’s working and what isn’t.
Phase 2 - Days 31-60: Fix & Focus
Strategy Before Execution. Always.
Ship the obvious wins: the broken tracking, the unsegmented list, the page that converts at a third of what it should. Build the reporting view that gives leadership one honest answer instead of five dashboards.
What You Get At Day 60
A documented marketing strategy with clear priorities, timelines, and ownership — ready to present to leadership.
Phase 3 - Days 61-90: Build the Plan
The Plan Meets Reality
Present a channel strategy with owners, budget, timelines, and forecasts. By day 90 you should have a marketing plan you can defend in a board meeting and a team that knows exactly what it owns.
What You Get At Day 90
A working marketing operation with momentum, a clear performance baseline, and a roadmap for what comes next.
