Capability 05

Marketing Leadership &
Operations

Marketing teams need more than good ideas. They need clear priorities, repeatable processes, realistic timelines, and accountability for results.

I've managed marketing teams, vendors, cross-functional projects, budgets, workflows, SOPs, and operational systems across organizations of different sizes and structures.

Understand how work actually moves through the organization.

I start by understanding how work actually moves through the organization. The formal org chart rarely tells the whole story.

I look at ownership, approval processes, recurring bottlenecks, communication gaps, vendor relationships, and where projects tend to slow down.

Then I establish priorities. Not every marketing request deserves equal urgency, and part of leadership is creating a system for deciding what gets done now, later, or not at all.

I document repeatable work through SOPs, templates, playbooks, and workflows. The goal isn't bureaucracy. It's making sure the team doesn't have to reinvent common processes every time.

Systems that make marketing work better.

The questions I'd ask first.

01
Where does work currently get stuck?
02
Which metrics does leadership actually use to evaluate marketing?
03
What capabilities exist on the team and where are the gaps?
04
What decisions can the marketing team make independently?
