DiscountMugs was sitting on one of the most valuable assets in e-commerce marketing — a list of over one million engaged subscribers — and not fully leveraging it. Email performance had plateaued. Open rates were below where they should be for a list of that quality.

Two parallel tracks ran simultaneously. The first was a methodical improvement of the existing email program — diagnosing what was suppressing performance, rebuilding the segmentation architecture, and introducing a testing framework needed to drive consistent improvement.
The second was the complete launch of a new SMS channel — platform selection, subscriber acquisition, compliance setup, automation build, and campaign execution — all within 90 days. The principle driving both: the right message to the right person at the right moment.
Rebuilt list segmentation from the ground up — moving from batch-and-blast to a behavior and purchase-based model. Introduced systematic A/B testing across subject lines, send times, and CTAs. Implemented list hygiene protocols and redesigned templates for mobile performance.
Selected and implemented SMS platform from zero. Built subscriber acquisition program — opt-in flows, pop-ups, and checkout integration. Developed compliance framework and built automated welcome series, promotional campaigns, and seasonal sends with revenue attribution from day one.
