About Me
Hi, I am Scott Murphy
Strategist.
Storyteller.
I specialize in creating unique visual identities for digital products
I’ve spent over a decade at the intersection of creative thinking and performance marketing — building brands, leading teams, and turning strategy into results that show up in the numbers. Here’s the full picture.
Why I Do This
I started my career as a journalist — and that origin story matters more than it might seem. Journalism taught me to ask better questions, to find the story beneath the surface, and to respect the intelligence of the audience. Those instincts have shaped every marketing decision I’ve made since.
What I’ve learned over a decade of in-house and consulting work is that most marketing problems aren’t actually marketing problems. They’re clarity problems. A brand that can’t articulate what makes it different. A campaign built around what the company wants to say instead of what the customer needs to hear. A website that looks the part but doesn’t do the job.
My approach has always been the same: get clear on the audience, get sharp on the message, and build the systems that deliver it consistently — across email, events, digital, and brand. Then measure everything, learn from what the data says, and iterate.
I’ve done this for pharmaceutical companies navigating regulated markets, e-commerce brands competing on price and speed, consumer goods companies trying to break through at retail, and HR solutions organizations managing campaigns at significant scale. The industries are different. The discipline is the same.
I’m not looking for the easiest room to be the smartest person in. I’m looking for a team worth building something great with.

How I work?
My work process,
Crafted around your vision.
I start by understanding your goals, then move to wireframes, design, and finally development — turning ideas into polished, functional products.
How Every
Engagement Works.
Seven stages. Every client. No shortcuts. Click each stage to see exactly what happens and why it's part of the process.
Goal: Understand the client, their business, and what success actually looks like — before a single deliverable is discussed or a single dollar is committed.
Every engagement starts here. Before strategy, before proposals, before timelines — I need to understand your business from the inside out. What's working, what's broken, what's been tried, and what matters most. This stage is about listening, not selling.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: a clear sense of whether we're the right fit. I leave with: everything I need to build a proposal that actually addresses your real situation — not a generic one.
Goal: Align on scope, deliverables, timeline, and investment in writing before any work begins. No ambiguity, no assumptions, no surprises.
The proposal isn't a sales document — it's a shared agreement about what success looks like and how we'll get there. I walk you through every line item, answer every question, and don't start work until we're fully aligned. The contract protects both of us.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: a signed agreement, a clear timeline, and full confidence in what you're getting. I leave with: the mandate to do the work right.
Goal: Establish the working rhythm, communication protocols, tool access, and shared success benchmarks before the first deliverable is touched.
This is where the engagement transitions from agreement to action. We align every stakeholder, set up the systems we'll work in, and establish the communication cadence that keeps the project moving and you informed at every stage. No one gets surprised mid-project.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: a shared project view, confirmed milestones, and clarity on exactly how we'll communicate. I leave with: everything I need to move fast without asking unnecessary questions.
Goal: Build the complete strategic framework — every key decision made, every channel mapped, every message defined — before a single piece of execution begins.
Strategy before tactics. Always. This is the stage where research informs positioning, data drives channel selection, and the creative brief gets written before the creative work begins. Rushing this stage is how good execution produces bad results. I don't skip it.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: a documented strategy you own — not a presentation deck that lives on my computer. I leave with: approval to execute.
Goal: Implement the agreed strategy with precision, full accountability, and complete transparency on what's being done and why.
This is where the plan meets reality. Creative production, campaign builds, content publishing, platform setup, event execution — whatever the engagement calls for, this is where it gets done. Every deliverable reviewed before it goes live. Every launch tracked from day one.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: work that's live, trackable, and doing its job. I leave with: data to optimize in the next stage.
Goal: Measure what's working, identify what isn't, and make data-driven adjustments — before locking in the next phase of work.
Marketing doesn't end at launch — it begins there. Every campaign, every program, and every channel gets evaluated against the benchmarks set in Stage 4. What the data says gets shared plainly, without spin. If something isn't working, we fix it. If something is exceeding expectations, we scale it.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: a clear view of what the work is producing and what happens next. I leave with: a refined approach that improves on everything learned so far.
Goal: Document what was done, what it produced, and what it means for the next chapter — so the value of the engagement doesn't leave when I do.
The final stage is about leaving things better than I found them — and leaving you with the knowledge to sustain what we built. A full performance report, a documented playbook of what worked, and a clear recommendation for what comes next. Whether that's a continued engagement or a confident handoff to an internal team.
What Happens in This StageYou leave with: a documented record of everything built and every result achieved — and the roadmap for what comes next. That's the standard every engagement is held to.
